no arms, no legs, no worries.

A lot of students doesn't often have an inspiring professor to look up to. But when they do, their perspectives of the subject, or even, of life changed. I never had any inspiring professors/teachers in my life until recently last year.

(currently attending) Professor Chang, my Chinese professor, who taught me about hardworking, passion, and motivation.

(attended Fall 2010) Professor Petersen, my Human Sexuality professor, who taught me a lot about sexuality and changed my whole perspective of it.

and lastly, (currently attending) Professor Ano, my Psychology professor who taught me about how there are always hope no matter how tough life is, no matter what I had been though, there is still always hope.

Today was one emotional morning in my Psychology class; as usual, he lectured the subject and then we had some fun activities. He needed 12 willing participates (for extra credit) to be front of the class and do one facial emotion expression. For extra credit and for fun, I participated. The audience will have to read our facial expression and answer what emotion it was. Professor Ano handed me a flash card and it said, "sadness." When it was my turn, I put on this sad face, and someone shouted, "awwwww!!!" I shyly stepped back and the audience laughed. Eventually, all of us participators sat in our seats.
"There is something I want to share with you all from my heart," he said. "I know you all may have your own tough times. Some of you may think you're not worth enough. Some of you may think you have no hope for your own future. Maybe it can be because of your family problems, relationship problems, disability problems, or anything else. But you know what, say this with me, 'I can too.' You may think you can't do anything; you may think of what is your purpose of living; you may think you're worthless; you may think how you had a tough life and might not have any better in the future; you may think you are incapable of succeeding, but you have to think and say, 'I can too.'" While he was giving his speech, my eyes already begin to water and my interpreters noticed it. "I want to show you this video that could inspire you."

He showed us the video of an Australian man named Nick Vujicic who was born with no arms and no legs. While watching the video, I was already about to cry but resisted the tears. My professor also kept on looking at me, even after class. I constantly looked away to resist the tears from flowing down. After the video, my whole emotion was on my face. I could tell my professor was going to check on me after class but I left to prepare for the next class.

I found the exact video on YouTube, but there is no subtitles :( However, I found another video that does have subtitles. It's already posted up on my Facebook profile, so I hope you'll watch it because it is worth waching. I just finished watching that video again and I'm still crying, haha -_-
